Tom Patterson, marketing manager for ESPEC (Grand Rapids, MI), suggests combining several tests during a single test run to not only shorten test times, but also produce better test results. For example, you may find a gasket squeak when vibrating an assembly at 0º, but that squeak will be completely absent at ambient temperature.Rain tests at ambient temperature may find water intrusion, but if you also control the temperature to lower the dewpoint, you may also find water absorption or condensation problems.

#3. When testing tire performance in cold-weather conditions, perform tests on natural snow rather than artificial snow.According to Jukka Antila, project manager for Test World (Finland), running tests on natural snow will ensure that test results will correspond with real-world conditions.Artificial snow is harder, rougher, and icier than natural snow (depending on temperature and humidity) and, therefore, does not accurately simulate driving on natural snow.
